The current EMIS Code is having 7 digits having first 2 digits as the block code, next 3 digits as the village code in the respective block and last 2 digits as the school code. Though the district code is attached to this in the backend, still it creates confusion while checking the schools in different districts. For this we have identified a logical way of generating new EMIS code which will contain the district code in the EMIS Code.
As the length of the EMIS code can not be increased now, we will use 2 alphanumeric codes for the block code with the district code.

The new “District EMIS Master List” to be prepared by the Programmers as per the following sequence.

All the district names to be sorted alphabetically and will be assigned one alphanumeric code which will start from 1,2,3 … and ends S. The following is the new district code for the 30 districts:

Block/ULB Master List :-

   » All the Block names to be sorted alphabetically and will be assigned a two alphanumeric code where the first character will be the district code and the second       character will be a sequence starting from A to Z.

  » All the ULBs (Municipality/ NAC) to be sorted alphabetically and to be arranged below the Blocks. The ULB Code will be assigned a two alphanumeric code where the       first character will be the district code and the second character will be a sequence starting      from a to z.

Village Master List:-

Once all the villages are being listed under one Block, there code to be generated with  first two digits as respective Block Code, say ‘1A’ and next three digits representing to the serial no. of the village under the Block starting from ‘001’ to  say ‘129’, assuming that there are 129 villages under the Block. Hence the village code starts from ‘ 1A001’ to ‘1A129’.

Institution Master List :-

The only change that will be done in the EMIS code is the replacement of Block code (2 digits) to new Block code as mentioned above.
