DISE is conceived as the backbone of an integrated educational Management Information System operating at the district, State and the national level since 1996-97. It is designed and Implemented by National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi in collaboration with Directorate of Elementary Education & Literacy, Govt. of India.
DISE 2001 is the latest update of the school information system being implemented at the district level of Orissa. At present this system covers all schools imparting education up to elementary stage.
The system collects and computerizes detailed data on school like it’s location, management, teachers, school buildings and equipment, enrolment by gender and age, incentives and the number of disabled children in various grades.
Currently DISE is being implemented in 604 districts across 35 States/UTS of the country including 30 districts of the state Orissa. Decision makers at various administrative levels use DISE 2001 in a variety of ways to enhance their decision-making capabilities.
The latest DISE database of Orissa for the year 2008-09 has been collected and computerized successfully by the District MIS units and compiled at State Level. The output indicators are ready for use during the preparation of Annual Work Plan 2009-10 of SSA. The data on number of children, age, sex & grade wise enrollment, repeaters and readmission, dropouts, school infrastructure facilities, building status, and Teachers/ Siksha Sahayaks/ Gana Shikyaks are generated from DISE data of the year 2008-09.
